Responsibilities
- Spraying 2K topcoats over wet primers achieving “right first time” results
- Setting up equipment for different types of surfaces:
- shot blasted steel/rework/undercoat
- Different paint types and viscosities
- Interpret technical and safety data sheets to ensure correct coverage, and accurate mix ratios of paint, thinners and hardeners
- Complete various planned maintenance checks on all spraying equipment
- prepping shot blasted components and sub-assemblies, masking and fitting out chassis’ and bodies ready for paint
- Identifying defects in the steel to eliminate issues prior to painting
- Assist in consumable management to ensure the paint shops downtime is limited to a minimum
Skills Required:
- Self-job satisfaction to take pride in your work, and a professional approach
- Experience of wet painting primer and gloss using an air assisted system, primer and gloss paint (2pack systems), preferably within a manufacturing industry
- An appreciation of health and safety hazards and risks within a paint shop, specifically Isocyanates and flammable liquids.
- Experience in using and maintaining air fed respiratory systems
- A very hands on and forward thinking attitude
- Shot blasting and welding knowledge would be beneficial, but not essential
